Self-management shabbaton 12-14th May 2017

In preparation for our self-management shabbaton, we were all assigned groups and set times which we had to plan for, within the theme of “diversity of Judaism and how Judaism impacts our identity". In the weeks leading up to the weekend, each group met and planned tochiot on a variety of topics. Mia Burman and Gabe Jenchel were chosen as our roshim and they had the very difficult job of overseeing the entire weekend. They could not have done a better job!! Go Mia and Gabe! The self-management shabbaton was an opportunity for us each to put into practice our leadership skills. We as a cohort ran the entire weekend, start to finish. Creating a weekend ourselves, showed the immense amount of time and effort it takes to plan something amazing. The shabbaton was a success because we all put in effort and it really showed. The Journey of Milo and Haymishe Cookies

We kicked off workshop 6 a small check in of everyone's past 2 weeks, then went straight into a quick ice breaker. We a split into small groups, each group was assigned a 'leader' and given supplies. Then we were told to "play the game". The only problem was that nobody knew "the game". During the 5 minutes of the "the game" there was lots of laughter as everybody scrambled to play their version of this so called game.  Whilst this "game" was highly enjoyable, in the discussion after we reflected it is important to know where you want to go in order to achieve a goal. We were assigned tables/groups where our incredible madrichim put together a slideshow outlining important information that is vital to running a any project, but more specifically for us, running a Shabbaton. Israel Isrealllyy Fun: CONGRESS Part 2

TUESDAY: Good morning Diller parents! Our fellows arrived for  Congress yesterday afternoon and have had a very busy past 36 hours. After arriving at our accommodation in kibbutz Manara (photo of the beautiful view attached), and meeting the other partnership communities located at Manara the fellows attended the opening ceremony for Congress. This was a beautiful evening with food stalls and mingling of all 700 fellows, as well as presentations from Diller, including from Helen Diller's daughter. It was a lovely, but very hot, evening, with beautiful photos to come as Diller had drone photography the event. This morning the fellows went to Tel Hai University campus where the main seminar is located. Throughout the day they explored their origins, noting the major differences between Australians and American heritage, and explored their connection to Israel and Judaism.
