Let's get forming

Welcome of the Diller Teen Fellows Melbourne blog. This is a space for our fellows to share their thoughts and reflections on the program.

Our  first post comes from Romy:

Today was our first official Diller Teen Fellows workshop with all 19 fellows. We began the session with a game run by myself and a fellow participant to get to know the names of all the fellows. Following this, we were taught the Tuckman's group theory of forming, storming, norming and performing. Melbourne cohort 1 passed through the stage of forming our group and now we are moving on to storming, by setting goals and missions.

Inspired by the movie "Inside Out" we fellows had to come up with our own 5 personality "islands" that define who we are and core memories that accompany them. After we individually brainstormed our personality islands, we created the islands and core memories through art and craft and then shared our personal memories that define us with the group. This activity not only made us think deeply about who we are but gave us an insight into other participants.

This weeks Parasha is about the reading of the Ten Commandments, so we worked effectively as a group to create our own Ten Commandments for the program. Half were between ourselves and our fellow participants and half were between ourselves and the Diller Teen program. These commandments will help to serve us through the program.

Over the summer holidays each fellow got in touch with a fellow from our partners in the Golan and created a photo together. During this session, we shared our photos and something interesting about our partner. This gave us an excellent overview of our partners in the Golan. We then discussed the Shabbaton this weekend and I am really looking forward to it!
