As the week came to a close and the weekend began to set in, on the lips of every member of  our cohort was excitement yet uncertainty. We all knew we started early at the Jewish Museum and would make our way to the city to embark on some form of scavenger hunt, nothing more. We arrived at the Jewish Museum of Australia at 10am on Sunday morning and were ushered into a small meeting room. After going around a circle and speaking about events in our lives since our last meeting (I’d be lying if I said the majority wasn’t about the US election), we briefed about our activity in the Jewish Museum. We began in the “Standing Up” exhibition, showcasing influential people who stood up for a cause and made a difference. Most were Jewish, others were not. We each chose an individual with whom we connected, whether it be the cause for they have dedicated themselves to or for their morals and beliefs. Shabbat Shalom

Diller 1 st  Shabbaton The 1 st  ever Melbourne cohort of Diller Teen Fellows set out to Bacchus Marsh for their first Shabbaton as a group of unfamiliar kids, nervous and apprehensive for what was to come. We arrived at the campsite not long before Shabbat and quickly went about setting up all the necessary preparations. In accordance to Diller tradition we all put on our white clothes for Shabbat, underwent a quick teamwork activity and took some Shabbat photos.  Over the ensuing two days the fellows quickly got to know each other very well over interesting discussions, controversial disagreement, enjoyable activities and lots of laughs. Not only did we learn to appreciate the views and values of others, we were also able to consolidate our own opinions. The Journey of Milo and Haymishe Cookies

We kicked off workshop 6 a small check in of everyone's past 2 weeks, then went straight into a quick ice breaker. We a split into small groups, each group was assigned a 'leader' and given supplies. Then we were told to "play the game". The only problem was that nobody knew "the game". During the 5 minutes of the "the game" there was lots of laughter as everybody scrambled to play their version of this so called game.  Whilst this "game" was highly enjoyable, in the discussion after we reflected it is important to know where you want to go in order to achieve a goal. We were assigned tables/groups where our incredible madrichim put together a slideshow outlining important information that is vital to running a any project, but more specifically for us, running a Shabbaton.
