How to become an Advocate

This Diller workshop, we started off with a reflection on Shavuot. We each had a turn talking about

our favourite cheesecake and shared an interesting experience we had since our last meeting.

We then had a fantastic peer led session led by Tali and Tommy. We played two games. The first

game was called zombie chairs. Everyone in the room was spread out with a chair and there was one

zombie walking towards the only available chair, trying to get to sit in it. The aim of the game was to

try and occupy the chairs before the zombies. As the game proceeded more zombies were added,

making the difficulty of the game increase. The second game that was played was the 21 number

games. In this game, we went around in a circle counting. The person that reached 21 added a rule.

As the game went on, the rules increased making it harder to remember the rule to follow on a

certain number. At the end of the two games, we had a discussion about constructive ways to deal

with exam stress.

Then we had an activity led by Aron. In this activity we discussed how we can advocate Diller, in

recruiting potential fellows for cohort three. We were each handed out a sheet in which we went

through different points of contact to look for possible applicants.

We then were split into small groups and wrote about what is unique about Diller, and how we each

individually contribute to the program, with our diverse opinions and religious practices. Then our

Mads put on a skit for us displaying how we can pitch the program to different people. Then

volunteers from the cohort put on a skit, one person being the pitcher the other the potential

applicant. Each scenario, the listener had a potential issue with the program, the pitcher had to try

and solve. This activity taught us effective ways of communicating the values and messages the

program upholds, to wider audiences.

Finally, we ended off the workshop by splitting into our groups for the Community week in Israel, to

further discuss and finalize plans for our allocated days. Exciting times ahead!!
