In One Diverse Voice

The most recent Diller workshop was based around the idea of volunteering. It began, like most workshops with a peer ran activity that this week touched on the topic of disabilities and how we as a society perceive and treat those around us.

We were then given some 'tweets' to read and reflect on about volunteering and what it means to others. This lead to a very heated discussion on the importance of volunteering and how we should be going about it. After many back and forth's of opinions and views, we were then given the task to take what we had just discussed and make it a practical thing. We were asked to go in groups of threes and interview people at the one voice festival that will be going towards a video to promote the festival and as well be sent to our partnership region in Israel the Golan Height, to give them an understanding and insight to the Melbourne Jewish Community.
The "In One Voice" festival is an amazing organization that we were lucky enough to have been a part of and have helped. It's an event that aims to gather as many different Jewish organisations to create an environment of acceptance and tolerance and as well to give a voice and show the diversity of Jews living in Melbourne.

It was truly incredible to see all the diversity and differences among those who came, it was a day filled with simcha and acceptance. For the Diller group, it was really eye-opening and insightful to see that no matter how diverse we all are, we all have a commonality and that is our Judaism. It really gave a great insight to those around us and how they view their Judaism. I know that from having taken part and talked to those who attended the festival, it was an amazing day that celebrated Judaism and Jewish culture to its fullest.
