Congress begins

Monday was an early morning wake up to get to Salukia, where we had an Israeli breakfast and a summary activity where the fellows wrote personal comments to each other, they then had a chance to say thankyou to their hosts, what they learnt from each other, about their views on Israel and how they have grown during community week.
then there was an activity run by our Roshim, Anita, Batya, Romy and Nadav which beautifully concluded our self managed week.

After these summary peulot, we got on the bus to head off to congress. The excitement was indescribable. Everyone was so tired from the week but could not wait to meet the rest of the world, teenagers that have experienced things to similar to us yet in such different ways.  We made a stop at Kibbutz Gonnen for the classic ice ‘cream’ and toilet break, and to find out our tribes for the adventure that was yet to come.

On the bus to congress, being the creative bunch we are, we decided to make an entrance and a great first impression by dressing up as Adams and Eves. We taped on the leaves and ran off the bus but no hesitation. Nadav whipped out his drum and lead the Golan-Melbourne cohort, in a single file line, swinging our hips into Chorshat Tal, and like that we were in Congress 2016.

Groups were spread out all over the park, we were so overwhelmed by the amount of Diller t-shirts, the American accents, the scorching heat but that didn’t stop us from shouting KETZEV through to our meeting spot.
Following out count off, we had lunch, got some Diller bucket hats and heard a welcome speech form one of the organisers.

Next it was time to move into our tribes for the first time. Some icebreakers and obstacle course got us all buddied up with our new friends from all around the world.
After arriving at Tel Chai hostel we settled into our rooms, got cleaned up and dressed up nicely for our dinner at “Gan Bagome”.

This was insane, the food was endless and was delicious. After mingling, eating, drinking for about an hour the opening tekes began. This included videos from the JC’s, this years Diller song, and many speeches from the many organisers.
Following this, the scrumptious desserts came out and the music got louder. Many friendships were formed and reignited from Kennes.
At 10:30 it was time to say good night and bus home to our respective hostels. We were all exhausted from the eventful day and couldn’t wait to for what was next.
