Israel by Nature
Friday was
an absolute amazing day of fine coordination and last minute alterations that
was absolutely phenomenal in all aspects. Starting off in the middle of woop
woop in the black stump with a few billys for Poyke the night before, the day
began with a 5:30am wake up, clean up, as well as the two options of meditation
and an orthodox service. Everybody was absolutely exhausted! Most people only
had 4 hours sleep, but that was not to worry.
As Nachshon
of the day, and with Maagal Boker postponed for the time being, I made the
executive decision to play a few games to past the time. Ash’s classic ‘Good
Doggy’ and getting someone to leave the circle and eventually saying ‘moo’ by
themselves. After Maagal boker finished run by Ash and Nirit about Shabbat, we
were off (and may I say on time at 8:30) on our two busses heading towards the
Mayan Almin.
Upon
arrival, we did a Shabbat Peula on how everybody celebrates Shababt differently
in their own subjective way that they find special. It was very interesting to
see how everybody celebrates their Shabbat in their own way, and in hindsight
after many things were cancelled the night before such as the morning hike,
keeping the Shabbat Peula was a great decision that had very good feedback from
fellow Diller comrades.
Enjoying
the Nature and relaxing in the Mayan (natural spring) was just what we all
needed. A refreshing relaxing and chilled day after many exhausting days
beforehand. In fact, it was so relaxing that time went by so fast without
anybody even realising.
Jordan
River rafting was incredible. My group slept a lot of the time, and passing by
different people on the Jordan river with different music was so interesting to
see how Israel is so diverse and full of different cultures.
Timna,
Hannah, Itamar, Shir, and I, after many skype and hangout calls finally got to
see our day in action, and on the spot thinking the night before, adapting our
day to the current energy levels of everyone was a great part of leadership as
a group together, and as a group, we truly worked ourselves to our limits, and
coming back Friday afternoon we all received a well deserved sleep for a relaxing
weekend.
In the
words of Donald McGannon, “Leadership is an action, not a postion”. And with
that in mind, we made decisions that benefitted the group that everybody
enjoyed. We all received amazing feedback, and as Nachson of the day, I can
confidently say that it was a great day that really connected the land.
